2.2 Transfer Credit Policies
Grade Minimum: Courses submitted for transfer credit must have been completed with a grade of C or higher. Grades of C- are not eligible for transfer credit.
Accreditation: Transfer coursework must be completed at a regionally accredited institution or an institution recognized by the appropriate governmental authority within its country. Coursework completed at institutions that do not meet these criteria may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Time limit: Courses used to fulfill Health Sciences Core or Concentration Courses must have been completed within 10 years of their matriculation in the BSHS program.
International Coursework: Students seeking transfer credit for coursework completed outside the United States must provide a credential evaluation completed by an approved third-party evaluation service demonstrating U.S. equivalency.
GPA calculations: Grades earned in transfer coursework are not calculated into the student’s institutional cumulative grade point average.
Advanced Placement (AP) Credit and Standardized Examination Equivalences: Advanced Placement (AP) credit and other standardized examination (e.g. CLEP) equivalencies may be considered for transfer on a case-by-case basis in accordance with program requirements.
Maximum Transfer Credit: Students may transfer a maximum of 90 credits toward the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree. Learners that have prior academic work in excess of 90 credits will work with an academic advisor to determine how best to allocate their coursework.
Transfers Credit after Matriculation: After matriculation into the program, students may not complete coursework at another institution for transfer credit without prior written approval from the program and Registrar’s Office.
Pass/Fail Coursework
Courses completed on a pass/fail basis are not eligible for transfer credit evaluation unless the official transcript or institutional documentation clearly indicates the equivalent earned letter grade and the grade meets minimum transfer requirements. Exceptions may be made for coursework occurring between Spring 2020 and Spring 2021 when many institutions offered flexible practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Practicum, Clinical, and Internship Coursework
Practicum, clinical, internship, fieldwork, and other experiential learning courses are generally not eligible for transfer credit toward the BSHS degree requirements.
