2 - Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders - CSD
Currently, the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department is comprised of three graduate programs and two certificate programs. They are the Doctor of Audiology, Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology, Certificate in Literacy and Language, and the Audiology Graduate Certificate. Each program has dedicated and shared faculty members as well as many local professionals who contribute to classroom education and clinical training. 2.1 AuD Faculty and CSD Leadership
Andrea Pittman, PhD, CCC-A, is a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the Director of the Doctor of Audiology program. She also directs the Hearing Research lab where she and her staff study pediatric hearing loss and hearing devices.
Elin Roverud, AuD, PhD, CCC-A, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders for the AuD program. Dr. Roverud studies perceptual training and auditory learning, selective auditory attention, hearing loss-induced changes in the processing of complex sounds, and perceptual manifestations of the medial olivocochlear reflex.
Emily Jo Venskytis, AuD, ABAC, CCC-A, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the Director of Clinical Education for the AuD program. She specializes in pediatric audiology with interests in complex diagnostics and cochlear implants.
Kimberly Visnefsky, AuD, CCC-A is an Instructor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders for the AuD program. With a strong commitment to clinical education, she focuses on creating innovative and learner-centered teaching approaches that improve educational outcomes and support the practical application of clinical skills.
Julie Arenberg, PhD, CCC-A, is an Adjunct Professor in the AuD program as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School. She is also the Director of Clinical Audiology Research and Education at Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE).
Megan Bilodeau, AuD, CCC-A, is a lecturer in the AuD program as well as Audiologist II and Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Specialist at Mass Eye and Ear. Dr. Bilodeau specializes in pediatrics and cochlear implants.
Ashley Gaucher, AuD, CCC-A, is a lecturer in the AuD program as well as an audiologist at Mass Eye and Ear. Dr. Gaucher teaches the Auditory Etiology course.
Sarah Goudreau, AuD, CCC-A, is a term lecturer in the AuD program, as well as a clinical audiologist at UVM Health. She specializes in pediatric diagnostics and clinical student supervision.
Brian Fligor, ScD, CCC-A, is a lecturer in the AuD program as well as the Clinical Director of Audiology at Tobias & Battite Hearing Wellness. Dr. Fligor specializes in hearing conservation.
Rachel Petrie, AuD, CCC-A is a lecturer in the AuD program and a clinical audiologist at Mass Eye and Ear. Her primary clinical interests are in diagnostic testing across all age groups and adult cochlear implants.
Meaghan Reed, AuD, CCC-A, is an Adjunct Professor in the AuD program as well as the Director of Clinical Audiology at Mass Eye and Ear. Dr. Reed’s clinical interests include improving access and awareness to hearing health that can better support adults and children with hearing loss.
Guangwei Zhou, MD, ScD, CCC-A, is a lecturer in the AuD program as well as the Assistant Clinical Director in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Enhancement at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Zhou is a clinician researcher who specializes in vestibular disorders in children.
Alyse Zucker, AuD, CCC-A, is a term lecturer in the AuD program and the educational audiologist for the Boston Public Schools. Her areas of expertise include educational audiology and assistive listening technology, with a focus on supporting students with hearing differences in educational settings.
Bridget Perry, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the interim Chair of the of Department Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) as well as the Program Director for the Speech Language Pathology Post-Professional Doctoral program.
2.1 CSD Support Staff
Jaeyeon (Jenny) Hwang is the Clinical Systems Analyst for the CSD department.
Julia (Jules) Ditri is the Program Coordinator for the Audiology program.
