1.1 Program Purpose and Learning Philosophy
The Behavioral Health Paraprofessional Training Program is a 9-credit undergraduate certificate of completion program that prepares students for entry-level paraprofessional roles in behavioral health settings. The program emphasizes foundational knowledge, applied skill development, professionalism, and supervised experiential learning.
Learning in behavioral health is both academic and experiential. Students learn through coursework, practice, reflection, supervision, and feedback. Faculty recognize that developing professional competence takes time. Questions, uncertainty, and growth are expected parts of the learning process. What matters most is engagement, openness to feedback, and a commitment to ethical and respectful practice.
Completion of this program prepares students for entry-level paraprofessional roles in behavioral health and related settings. The certificate does not independently confer professional licensure or certification.
