3.1 Academic Standards Review
Student academic and clinical performance is evaluated by the program faculty at mid-term of each semester
- Oral Warning: Students exhibiting poor performance in a course (<C) or clinical experience (fail) will first receive an oral warning from their instructor. The warning will describe the student’s current academic status and the potential consequences for not improving their performance within a specified timeframe. Support and resources will be offered to the student and facilitated by the CSD Department. Following the meeting, a summary of the conversation will be provided to the student via email and placed in the student’s digital file.
- Written Notice: If the student’s performance did not improve at the end of the semester, a written notice will be issued. The student’s instructor or advisor will prepare a letter/memo to the student describing the academic performance issue that was not resolved, the consequences and/or potential consequences, and, if applicable, disciplinary action.
Likewise, students who were performing well at midterm but ultimately receive a course grade below B- will receive simultaneous oral and written notification.
Potential disciplinary actions for poor academic/clinic performance include sanctions within, and/or dismissal, from the program.
- Sanction: Poor academic/clinical performance requiring the student to repeat a course or clinical experience, necessitates revision of the program of study. Revisions include delayed clinical placements, repeating coursework, and delayed graduation. Additional costs associated with revisions to the program of study are the responsibility of the student.
- Dismissal: A student's poor academic or clinical performance may require dismissal from program. To initiate a dismissal, the Program Director will prepare documentation of the student’s performance for consideration by the AuD program faculty. The faculty will make their decision within 5 business days of receiving the documentation. The student will be informed in writing of the committee’s decision within the following 5 days. A copy of the written decision will be placed in the student's digital file.

3.2 Academic Support Services

3.3 Academic Probation
A student on academic probation for a cumulative GPA <3.0 must regain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better within the next semester or be subject to dismissal from the program.
