5 - Appeals
Students have the right to appeal course grades, disciplinary action, and dismissal from the program. The appeals process should be pursued when all other options have been exhausted (e.g., speaking with the instructor about a graded assignment, complying with the recommendations of the faculty following a notification of poor performance, etc.).
5.1 Appeals Process
Within 10 days of the decision triggering the appeal (course grade, disciplinary action, or dismissal), the student must submit a letter to the AuD program director. The letter of appeal should clearly and concisely state the basis of the appeal, supporting documentation (evidence) should be provided. The director will meet with the program faculty to discuss the appeal, and a decision will be provided within 5 business days of receipt of the request. A copy of the written decision will be placed in the student's digital file.
5.2 School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) Appeals Process
Students who believe that the procedures, facts, or policies have been misinterpreted or that the decision was made arbitrarily may initiate an appeal after receiving an unfavorable response to their petition from the program (Mass General Brigham University of Health Professions - Dismissal Appeal Policy). Students wishing to initiate an appeal to the Dean of SHRS, will need to submit a request in writing to shrsdean@mghihp.edu within ten (10) business days of written notice of the program decision.
