iii. Changes to Approved Sabbatical Leave
Faculty members seeking to modify the dates, duration, funding structure, or scope of an approved sabbatical leave prior to the start of the leave must submit a written request to their academic unit leader. Requests for modification require review and approval by the academic unit leader, dean, and provost. Approved changes must be documented with the Office of the Provost prior to the revised sabbatical start date.
Requests to modify the dates, duration, funding structure, or scope of a sabbatical leave after the leave has commenced require formal review by the provost in consultation with the relevant dean and academic unit leader. In evaluating such requests, consideration will be given to the feasibility of the proposed change, operational and instructional impacts on the academic unit, availability of funding, implications for salary and benefits support, compliance with sponsored funding requirements where applicable, and the extent to which the modified leave continues to align with the approved purpose of the sabbatical.
The University reserves the right to deny requested modifications to an approved sabbatical leave when such changes are determined to be operationally infeasible, financially unsupported, inconsistent with institutional priorities, or inconsistent with the approved purpose of the leave.
