5.6 Academic Dismissal
Students who fail to make satisfactory academic progress or fail to meet the conditions of academic probation may be subject to academic dismissal.
Students may be dismissed from the program if any of the following criteria apply:
- Failure to meet the conditions of an academic improvement plan or academic probation.
- Failure to demonstrate improvement in cumulative GPA while on academic probation.
- Failure to achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after two consecutive semesters on academic probation.
- Earning a grade below C in a repeated course.
- Accumulating a pattern of unsuccessful course attempts, withdrawals, or other academic performance concerns that indicate a low likelihood of successful degree completion.
- Demonstrating behavior that violates Institute policies or professional standards, including conduct determined to be illegal, unethical, or otherwise inconsistent with the expectations of the program.
Academic dismissal decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and consider the student's overall academic performance, progress toward degree completion, prior academic history, and likelihood of future success.
