Fieldwork Advising
The University Fieldwork Team oversees and administers all Level I and Level II fieldwork experiences. Students are required to consult with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) and/or the Level I Fieldwork Coordinator regarding any fieldwork-related concerns prior to making decisions that may affect their placement, progress, or ability to meet fieldwork requirements.
Any matter that may affect a student’s ability to participate fully in a fieldwork education experience must be disclosed to the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) and/or Level I Fieldwork Coordinator prior to the start of the fieldwork experience, or immediately if the experience is already in progress. Students seeking formal accommodations for fieldwork are responsible for engaging with Accessibility Resources in accordance with institutional procedures.
The AFWC, in collaboration with the Level I Fieldwork Coordinator, CEPSA, and fieldwork course faculty, has primary responsibility for administration and oversight of the OTD fieldwork program, including but not limited to:
- Orientation to fieldwork policies and procedures
- Management of fieldwork-related learning platforms and course resources
- Fieldwork preparation and instruction within the curriculum
- Advising related to fieldwork site selection and sequencing
- Final decisions regarding fieldwork placement and assignment
- Ongoing monitoring of student placements and performance
- Implementation of remediation or alternative plans when indicated
- Serving as a resource to students and fieldwork educators
