Introduction to Types of Fieldwork
Supervised fieldwork experiences are an integral part of the educational program. The Accreditation Standards (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) requires two levels of experience. Level I Fieldwork is designed to provide experiences that complement professional courses in the entry-level portion of the curriculum. Level II Fieldwork is designed to provide in depth experiences in providing occupational therapy services to clients after successful completion of prerequisite academic course work. Level I fieldwork cannot be substituted for any part of Level II fieldwork.
Students are responsible for understanding and adhering to the policies and procedures outlined in the EL-OTD Program Manual and the fieldwork course syllabi. It is the students' responsibility to familiarize themselves with these documents and seek clarification when needed.
