5.2.5 Safety, Privacy, and Ethical Responsibility
Students must be able to uphold standards related to safety, confidentiality, ethics, and privacy in all settings.
Students must be able to:
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, Institute policies, and clinical site requirements
- Protect sensitive personal, behavioral health, and healthcare information
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and integrity
- Follow infection control, workplace safety, and emergency procedures as required
- Recognize unsafe situations and seek assistance appropriately
- Refrain from unauthorized photography, recording, or sharing of confidential information
- Use technology and electronic communication responsibly and professionally
Because behavioral health environments may involve vulnerable populations and sensitive information, students are expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, discretion, and respect for privacy.
